Nuclear Cardiac Imaging now at SAMA

SAMA now has access to a compact mobile imaging system designed for dedicated cardiology applications which is combined with the expertise of board-certified radiologists who are experts in reading cardiac images and diagnosing coronary artery disease.  This means less travel, expense, and anxiety for the patient and generally quicker diagnosis of a potentially fatal condition.

According to the Agency for Healthcare Reasearch and Quality, the increased use of Myocardial Perfusion Imaging, often referred to as a Cardiolite Stress Test, leads to fewer unnecessary hospital admissions for acute myocardial infarctions (MI).  Previously, patients had to be referred to a specialist for cardiac testing and diagnosis.  Now, state-of-the-art diagnostic technology can reach them right in our clinic.  Moreover, our patients will find local testing:

1 Saves time - patients can be scheduled immediately and scanned within a few days.

2 Means less stress - referrals often mean new doctors, new offices, and more paperwork for patients.

3 Saves money - patients are spared unnecessary travel costs and specialists' consultation fees.

The tests are being performed by Mobile Health Services and read by Radiology Associates, PA of Little Rock, one of the largest radiology specialist groups in Arkansas.  The test involves an injection of a radioactive tracer, a gamma ray scan, a treadmill stress test, then a second scan to determine pre- and post-stress blood flow rates which help pin-point potential circulatory blockages.

Tell your SAMA Physician about any symptoms you believe may be heart related and ask about this test.  It may save your life!
