All babies sneeze, yawn, belch, have hiccups, cry, cough, and pass gas. The newborn baby’s breasts may enlarge after birth and occasionally milk may be secreted. This is normal and will subside spontaneously. In the female child, occasionally a discharge will occur from the vagina which also spontaneously subsides.
Your newborn child can see and hear at birth and follow objects.
Your baby may not have a perfectly round head after birth especially with vaginal deliveries or an instrument delivery like forceps. This is normal and your baby’s head will round out in the first few days.
Your baby’s skin may have occasional “red bumps” and alternate between being dry and oily. This is normal also.
