After you leave the hospital we will need to see the baby for regular scheduled “Well Baby Checkups”. These visits are to ensure that your baby is growing and developing normally. These will usually occur at the following ages: 2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 24 months, and then approximately every 18-24 months until puberty.
Before and between these visits please write down your questions. Having your baby examined and keeping up with diaper bags, brother or sister, etc. is difficult enough without trying to remember everything. These visits will have their maximum effectiveness if they are done while your child is well and not during an acute visit when the baby is sick. For information on immunizations, go back one page and see the section specifically about immunizations.
