Immunizations

Immunizations and Vaccines are necessary and highly recommended for your child. Today, many diseases can be prevented by immunizations which will mean your child may be much healthier than previous generations of children.

Unfortunately, immunizations are quite expensive and not routinely covered by insurance plans. Because of the costs most physician offices must charge, we recommend you consider obtaining your immunizations at the Union County Health Department where they are available at no cost. There may be a small registration fee. If there happens to be a shortage of vaccines or the health department cannot give one to your child, please call our office.

Because of new developments and scientific advances, it is common for immunization and vaccination schedules to change every 6-18 months. For these reasons, we recommend you check the links below for the latest schedules and information. These links are maintained by the American Academy of Family Practice and the American Academy of Pediatrics in conjunction with the Center for Disease Control.

Immunizations and Vaccines usually generate a number of questions from parents. Please ask your Physician or nurse for answers to your questions. ALWAYS bring your immunization and vaccine record with you when your baby has a well-child checkup so our records can be updated as needed to include any records from outside sources such as the Health Department.
