Our Physicians, nurses, technicians, and entire office staff are first and foremost here to help focus our knowledge and resources to resolve your medical questions and needs.

Recognizing the patients’ limited availability for comprehensive care and “after hours” access to medical care, it became clear to independent Drs Gary Bevill, Matthew Callaway, and James Sheppard that a “one-stop” healthcare facility would best serve their patients and the community in general.  In late 1997 and early 1998, after extensive forethought and planning, they formally joined efforts and put their vision not only on paper, but also on the El Dorado map.

By the fall of 1999, moving day from three separate solo practice locations to a new, single story, 20,000 sq ft facility had arrived. Their forward-thinking vision was now reality!

Healthcare in south central Arkansas and north central Louisiana immediately took a major accessibility, convenience, and technological leap forward as South Arkansas Medical Associates (SAMA) was born!

Within a year, another well-established and highly respected physician, Dr Berry Moore, joined the group. Local and regional acceptance with clinic growth created further demand for services bringing Marcia Ford APN to come aboard early 2000. By mid-2001, yet another physician, Dr Eric Hatley, was added to meet the growing community understanding, acceptance, and patient demand for comprehensive medical care for all age patients and workers.  When Dr Moore retired from his part-time practice in December 2003, the need and opportunity for a full-time physician extender gave way for Harriette Allison, APN to join us.

January 2004, we officially became SAMA HealthCare Services PA.
